Located at Keppel Terminal, PSA Singapore, Samudera Indonesia held welcoming ceremony of Sinar Palopo on February 12, 2018.

“In line with the vision of company – Connecting Indonesia – we name our vessels after the islands and cities in Indonesia. We always wish to contribute in better (goods) connectivity and at the same time promoting beloved country, Indonesia,” told Bani during his speech.

Sinar Palopo is a container vessel, she was built by Jingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co Ltd and she has deadweight tonnage capacity of 8,180 tons. This vessel was built based on the concept of sister ship with Sinar Penida. They were built using same design and specification. Sinar Palopo will be deployed for her maiden voyage serving Singapore – Calcutta route for Samudera Shipping Line Ltd.

In the future, Samudera Indonesia expects Sinar Palopo will serve domestics containerized shipping in Indonesia and she will be operated by PT Perusahaan Pelayaran Nusantara Panurjwan.

Cutting tumpeng and prayers were become the part of ceremony. This tradition symbolized the gratitude and hope for the new vessel to be strong to sail the ocean and able to create positive contribution for the company. With the capacity of 600 TEUs, Sinar Palopo is projected to be able to accommodate the domestic’s market needs and improve the competitiveness of Samudera Indonesia in the domestic container shipping industry.
